Welcome to Day 2 of our house reveal. Today we are moving on to the Master Bedroom and Bathroom. We really have not done much here in the way of major demo, just making it likeable for now. Our Master Bathroom is the last MAJOR project on our "to-do" list. We have so many ideas but don't know where to start or where to find the stacks of cash we will need for the project. We will take this journey in two steps starting with the Bedroom.
Here is the Before:
When we first bought the house we were not yet married. I moved into our home while Jason stayed at his parents house. I lived in the guest room because I wanted to wait to move in to the Master until we both could live there together. When we got back from our honeymoon my mom and sister had come over and set up our bedroom for us so we could immediately move into our new room... that was so cool. They set up our bed, put a cheesy heart on the comforter out of (Fake) rose petals and even made monogrammed candles for our bedside tables. (Great "Mom Memory" right there)
Alright, back to the remodel. We started first and foremost with paint. I wanted our bedroom to be a hideout for us, a great place to relax and get away from life. We went to Home Depot and got a dark blue paint for the bedroom walls. Got the paint home, HATED IT! It was "Country Blue" which was not what I was going for. So back to Home Depot we went with our two gallons of paint and a pout on my face. The gentleman who worked behind the desk was wonderful and patient and helped fix our paint as best as he could to get a color I eventually liked.
Next up, we saved for a new bed. We were rocking Jason's old bed from college, a Full sized metal frame that didn't fit properly with our Queen bed (you will now see that frame residing in the guest bedroom.) We bought this beautiful bed from World Market... it was on Sale and we had a coupon. LOVE!
We got the silver framed mirror and the bench at the end of our bed as wedding presents. The three pictures hung above our bed are from Ikea. We tore down the terrible vertical blinds and installed some blackout drapes along the giant sliding glass door to block the heat and sun. Fun Fact - Our room is the hottest in the house due to that door and a ridiculously large window in our bathroom. Actually that is more of a sucky fact than a fun fact....
Alright! On to the bathroom, way less has been done here.
Bathroom Before:
I painted the bathroom a light grey color, two years later I am ready to change it but am waiting for the bathroom overhaul for that. We bought a new light fixture and hung a picture or two.
We replaced the toilet in here the same time we replaced the one in the guest bathroom. I loved this cabinet from Target and once it was on clearance, yup another sale item, we finally decided to buy it.
That is about it for the bathroom. We have so many desires for this bathroom. We want to replace the entire vanity, tear out our current shower and replace it with tile. Our shower is about the size of a thumb nail and there is barely enough room in there for a small child. It is terrible. We want to replace the current floor tile and bathtub, repaint, etc. We are currently saving and scouring the Internet for ideas and cheap finds, I will keep you posted on when we start this project.
So, here are some side by side before and afters for your viewing pleasure...
(Maybe I should have put away some of our junk on the vanity before taking this picture... oh well)
So... Thoughts?!?!?

love the colors love the bed and love the idea of taking down blinds and using blackout curtains!!! i wish my bedroom had more windows like that!! i love the room!!!
so... we definitely still have the awful vertical blinds in our room. what do you have holding the curtains back? can you easily 'un-do' them every night when you go to sleep so it is dark?
I just used some cheap black ribbon to tie the curtains. We leave them closed most of the time but tie the middle with ribbon every now and then to let light in. (Its how my mom used to do her curtains on the french doors)
Hey Kristin! Your before and after shots are great! I especially love your master bedroom because my room is blue and you are giving me great ideas lol. We have a long way to go on our home.
Keep up the good work :-)

What is the color blue you ended up with? Love it!
So pretty! My master bedroom and bath is very similar to yours. I have been drawing a blank on what to do with it. I think you just inspired me! I love your colors!
I love the bold color in your room. Stunning!
Wow, thanks everyone for the encouraging comments! Stephanie, I don't have a name for the color because Home Depot added so much more tint to the original color we bought (that I hated.) I will look on the can and see what the color combo was though asap.
Love it! I am looking for bedding like yours. Where did you get it?
We got the bedding from Macys on one of their "Super Sales." It is part of their Hotel Collection. It is one of the first "big" purchases we made, but your bedding needs to be special... you spend a TON of time there! :)
